Beacons provided interesting news about employees, their families, and their communities.

The Callaway Beacon was a weekly newsletter created by the employees of Callaway Mills Company for the enjoyment of the employees and members of the mill communities. The first edition was published on January 3, 1949, and the last edition was published on October 28, 1969.

Over the past few years, we have worked to digitize each edition of the Beacon, in order to make it available to those doing historical or genealogical research. If you had a family member who worked for Callaway Mills, or if you are interested in researching the indexes for information on any topic, please fill out the form below and someone will get back to you asap.

“The Beacon will carry news about folks in the Plants and Offices of Callaway Mills Company, Callaway Mills, Inc., Callaway Community Foundation and Callaway Educational Association. The Editor, three Associate Editors, and Reporters from each Plant and Office make up the Staff of the Beacon. They will gather and give news of the employees, their families and the company.” – Callaway Beacon, January 3, 1949
